Akimi Valhouli has been with Marissa Michaels for 18 years as a stylist and assistant who is renowned for her scalp massages. Originally from Japan; Akimi moved to Andover in 1996. While in Japan Akimi studied both art and massage therapy.

When not at the salon Akimi spends her time tending to her garden, sculpting and painting. The skills that she cultivates in her off time bring a unique quality to her shampoos and scalp massages. The combination of her tenderness with her flowers, and her skilled hands of a sculptor make her one of a kind.

Akimi continues her education with courses provided by the salon.

Christina has been with Marissa Micheals since 2010. Christina graduated Pierre’s School of Cosmetology, Portland Maine and has a Bachelors degree in Art Education from the University of New England. Christina finds inspiration from her clients’ beauty, both inner and outer. When Christina is not spending her days creating behind her chair she enjoys camping, gardening, and everything out doors. She loves to soak up the beauty of nature and sunshine and release it into her passion for hair. Her favorite celebrity hair style icon is Rhianna, because she is always changing her look. It’s funky, beautiful, and always unique.

Christina’s education also includes Wella Professionals color, cut, and formal finish courses, Aquage formal finish courses, Vidal Sassoon cutting classes taught by Gary Gaudreau, cutting courses with Tanya Shanks, Razor Cutting with Nick Arrojo, and extensive training in Wella, Bumble & Bumble, Orbie, and Kerastase product lines. She is certified in Great Lengths hair extensions, and has also attended Vidal Sassoon cut and color classes in Chicago.


Dennis is the owner of Marissa Michaels, as well as one of our stylists. He has been in the industry for 35 years, and at our current location for the past 22 years. Dennis was a National Educator for Paul Mitchell Dennis has had the pleasure of expressing his passion for the craft as a colorist for Paul Mitchell, a platform artist, as well as working with fashion shows to raise thousands of dollars for charity.

Dennis is constantly inspired by his clients, street art, photography, music and world cultures. His tastes are eclectic which suits his personal style fusing color and texture to create the ultimate hair style for each individual.

Dennis has had years of advanced education from Vidal Sassoon, Wella International, Kerastase, Sebastian, Redkin, Goldwell, Paul Mitchell, Oribie, Vivian McKinder, Ann Humphreys, Robert Cromeans, Arrojo, Yosh for Hair, and Bumble & Bumble.


Gary Gaudreau is a master stylist at Marissa Michaels, and has been in the hair industry for more than 34 years. Gary is an award winning hair and make-up artist who has worked in runways, theater, film, television and editorials. Gary is constantly inspired by his clients, their stories and goals.

When not living out his passion for style, Gary enjoys reading and constantly expanding his mind. Truly a renaissance man with a well rounded mind; Gary also enjoys travel and experiencing culture at its root, as well as photography, painting, and sculpting: creating something that takes a true artists view to pull out.

Gary specializes in makeovers, cut & color, straightening, make-up, wigs and hair extensions. He is also Hiroshi and Keratin certified, and is always willing to change your life from a salon chair.


Tanya has been with Marissa Michaels since 2011, and is originally from Arizona. Tanya has specialized in precision haircutting for more than 20 years, and Great Lengths Extensions for 10 years. Tanya has participated in multiple hair shows throughout Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Minnesota. Tanya is currently the instructor of cutting classes offered to our employees at Marissa Michaels.

When away from the Salon Tanya loves to stay active and outdoors as often as possible. Some of her favorite activities include snowboarding, and running. She loves the time to think while running, and the quiet inspiration that comes from it. She is also inspired by the people she meets, and the added bonus of making someone’s day. Her favorite hairstyle icon is Nancy Kwan in 1963, because it’s still a classic.

She has continued her education through advanced training by Vidal Sassoon, Tony and Guy, Aveda, Wella Professionals, Antoinette Benders, Great Lengths Hair Extensions, Kerastase, Bumble and Bumble, Aveda, and Prive.
